Personalized Announcements

I love the announcement bubble/window that Safefood uses to update users on upcoming webinars, updates, etc. I think it would be amazing if this functionality could be utilized by individual administrators to make announcements to their specific team. It would be a very fast, efficient way to communicate with everyone!

    Admin Response

    I'm going to move this to Planned. There will be two stages to this;

    The first will be to update the current Alerts functionality to show Dashboard Alerts as live pop-up Alerts anywhere in the application.

    The second stage will be to allow the Alerts module to be used for making Announcements.

    I think its a lovely idea! The current technology that is used by SF360 support for the announcements doesn't  allow us to do something like that, but there might be another way.

     I think a simple announcement feature would be a fantastic addition to the software. There is another module relating to communication that is being currently discussed and perhaps a future version of that module could also contain a feature / record type called "Announcement".

    In practice an announcement would be just a piece of text and it could contain hyperlinks and other basic formatting.

    Announcements could be only created  by admins by default (but you could give access to other users too) and in the very beginning it would mean nothing more complex that for team members a simple message bar appearing at the top of the software next time you log in. There would be a little "X" next to the message for closing the message and the software could even keep track of all the people who have been shown the message. If there were multiple announcements, they would appear stacked on top of each other.

    An advanced version of this feature could later allow you to pick the modules where you want the message to appear.

    This is a simple idea but it would really allow boost your ability to keep your team up-to-date on things!
